Qigong is a Chinese art of health that has been practiced for over two thousand years. A form of gentle, relaxing exercise, qigong strengthens joints, muscles, tendons, and bones, nourishes the internal organs, stimulates the circulation of energy in our body, and enhances mental clarity. Qigong not only maintains physical and mental well-being for healthy individuals but is an excellent way to gently introduce mobility and relaxation to persons who have physical challenges. Qigong is also used as a tool to build the foundation for sitting meditation.  The program will introduce participants to several basic practices of Daoist Qigong, which include self-massage, stretching, tendon-changing, and standing postures in the Xiantianwujimen and Yiquan lineages held by Dr. Eva Wong, and will include instruction in sitting meditation. The weekend is offered as a complete program, and is a pre-requisite for attending Level 3.

Acharya Suzann Duquette became a student of Chögyam Trungpa, Rinpoche in 1974, and has taught in the Shambhala Buddhist tradition for more than 30 years. Acharya  (Senior Teacher) Duquette is a former co-director of Karmê Chöling, where she now serves as Resident Acharya and core faculty for Karmê Chöling’s Mukpo Institute. Respecting the power of body awareness in manifesting wakefulness and health, she emphasizes body discipline training in all her teaching. Acharya Duquette is a student and instructor of Daoist Qigong in the lineage of Dr. Eva Wong. Also, in 2011, Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche appointed her to the position of Rupa Acharya, responsible for maintaining and furthering the sacred ceremonial and liturgical forms of Shambhala. She teaches widely and lives with her husband, Jan, in Barnet, Vermont, where they run Blue Skies Guesthouse, a B&B.
