Children's Day

December 3rd (2017)

    Room: Main Shrine Room

Shambhala’s recognition of the seasonal solstice brings us together early on December 3rd to celebrate Children’s Day!

Children's Day provides a special opportunity to celebrate our children and to bring warmth, light, and cheerfulness into the darkest time of the year. To mark the winter solstice and the changing of the seasons, we turn to family in celebration, creativity, and generosity. On Children’s Day, good cheer will take the form of songs, storytelling and special treats for all ages!

Our celebration will include families creating crafts to decorate our special Children’s Day shrine as well as a ceremony with the King and Queen of Shambhala. Children will have an opportunity to meet the King and Queen in a blessing line, and each child will have the opportunity to offer a gift as an expression of kindness and generosity toward those in need.

Our sangha is our village, our clan, our family. Our children belong to all of us, and are bright reminders of the future of Shambhala. We celebrate them and the Great Eastern Sun together at the darkest time of the year, with open-hearth parties and cheerful festivities on Winter Solstice Children's Day.

Please come and, if so inclined, bring an unwrapped gift to donate to a child who might otherwise go without this holiday.  We hope to see you there!

Donations to the Shambhala Center are always gratefully accepted.
