Please join us for a 10-week online exploration of Shambhala: The Sacred Path of the Warrior, the seminal work by Chögyam Trungpa on the Shambhala teachings. The book group will focus on Part One: “How to be a Warrior.”  Below is a synopsis that appears on the back of the 2015 edition of the book:

“There is a basic human wisdom that can help solve the world’s problems. It doesn’t belong to any one culture or region or religious tradition – though it can be found in many of them throughout history. It’s what Chögyam Trungpa called the sacred path of the warrior. The sacred warrior conquers the world not through violence or aggression but through gentleness, courage, and self-knowledge. The warrior discovers the basic goodness of human life and radiates that goodness out into the world for the peace and sanity of others. That’s what the Shambhala teachings are all about, and this is the book that has been presenting them to a wide and appreciative audience for more than 30 years.”

We will read and discuss one chapter of the book each week, with PDFs of the chapters provided for those who don't already have the book.  The discussion of the first three classes/chapters will be facilitated by Paul Benson, Autumn Van Ord, and Gail Spiva; facilitation of the remaining chapters will rotate among interested participants.

Classes will be 60 minutes except for the first one, which will be extended by 15 minutes to allow us time to meet one another, discuss how the class will work, and have a full discussion of Chapter One "Creating an Enlightened Society."

A Zoom link for course access and a schedule of the chapters by week (with PDFs of each) will be provided when you register.

This program is being offered at no charge.
