Winter Solstice Meditation Retreat (In Person)
with Chris Kreeger
As we move past the winter solstice and the energy of holiday festivities, into the closing of this year and the opening of the next, some people find the week between Christmas and New Year’s a favorable time for more intensive meditation practice. The Baltimore Shambhala Community is offering a seven-day meditation retreat, December 26 through January 1, to provide this opportunity. The retreat offers everyone an opportunity to deepen their meditation practice and to deepen the practice orientation of the Baltimore Shambhala Community.
This retreat will be led by Chris Kreeger, a senior teacher who has taught meditation, Shambhala, and Buddhism for over 30 years. The retreat will take place in Chris’ home in Mt. Washington in northern Baltimore City, affording an intimate gathering where participants can connect with people similarly interested in meditation and develop a supportive, ongoing community of friendship. Full location details will be in the email confirming your registration.
This retreat will involve mindfulness awareness sitting meditation practice, interspersed with walking meditation. There will be talks on meditation to support everyone’s meditation practice, but these will be minimal, and the emphasis will be on the practice. Chairs will be available for sitting meditation; alternatively, participants may bring their own meditation cushions.
Each day will include a one-hour break for lunch. We recommend that participants bring their own lunch, as there are few options for a quick lunch nearby.
Participants can attend the full retreat or come for one or more single days. ***Please note which days you plan to attend in the "Comments" box on the registration page.***
*** This program is being offered at no charge. ***
