Election Day: An Evening of Being in Community (In Person)

with Michelle La Perrière

November 5th

Date details +
Room: Cedarcroft Center at 6112 York Road

“Equanimity means we are able to be with ourselves and our world without getting caught in “for” and “against,” without judging things as “right” or “wrong,” without getting caught up in opinions and beliefs and solidly held views about ourselves and our world.” – Pema Chödrön

Election night offers us an opportunity to be with uncertainty, to practice mindfulness, compassion, and the capacity to be open to change. Being with what is and staying open-hearted are at the core of this mini retreat, as we practice sitting and walking meditation, explore journaling and calming breath techniques in a community of support.

The evening will begin with collaging journal covers (journals/materials provided), followed by group meditation instruction, seated and walking meditation, reflective writing, and sharing our experiences in conversation. A reading on equanimity and a lovingkindness meditation will enhance our experience together.

Join us in person at Cedarcroft Center, located at 6112 York Road, a block and a half north of Northern Parkway. Please enter using the single door on the side of the building, then take the stairs to the second floor. Parking is available on-site in the lot shared with The Church of the Nativity and Holy Comforter. We regret that this space is *not* wheelchair-accessible, as there is no elevator in the building.
